One of the goals listed in the Lou Walker Senior Center strategic plan was to apply for accreditation, and part of the process was to publish an annual report. The center had never published one before and an outside consultant was tasked with drafting the report. The consultant’s draft was 10 pages full of words with minimal white space, and none of the contentaccurately portrayed all that had been accomplished that past year. Knowing the importance of presenting information in a way that is aesthetically pleasing and provides the information it is intended to, I knew that I would need to make the information concise, include more statistics and make them stand out above all the other text, organize the content in easy to understand categories, rewrite all content, and get straight to the point on the facts.
The result was a document that accurately and succinctly captured the center’s accomplishments.
